1. The Fishing Pier Then & Now Marker
Inscription. The Fishing Pier Then and Now. . Erection of the first boardwalk began in 1905 and was completed in 1910. The Ventnor Fishing Pier was completed in the late 1920s and was originally free admission. Soon after overcrowding forced authorities to make admission by membership card only. A Spanish-styled auditorium was centered between Cambridge and Cornwall Avenue s on the boardwalk with two smaller buildings on either side. One was a sunroom and the other was used as the Ventnor branch public library until its first destruction by fire in 1940, and then by storm in 1962. .
