1. Camp Monte Sano Marker
Inscription. Over 200 soldiers were sent from Fort Barancas, Fl. each summer 1888 to 1898 to recuperate from yellow fever and malaria. Approximately 20 acres with a hospital. Joseph Boan, son of Mary and Sgt. Joseph Boan was born at Camp Monte Sano July 1888. The boundaries of the camp were Monte Sano Blvd. west on Panorama Dr. and Hutchens Ave. to Crescent Circle.
