1. China Cabin Marker
Inscription. This elegant Victorian social hall from the paddle steamer China was salvaged in 1886 when the wood ship became obsolete and was burned for scrap metal in Tiburon Cove. To provide a historic glimpse of old-world luxury, Landmarks painstakingly restored the period interior with 22k gold leaf, walnut woodwork, cut-glass floral window panes and brass chandeliers with crystal prisms. The Cabin is a National Maritime Monument.

Erected by Belvedere-Tiburon Landmarks Society. (Marker Number 1.)
