Bobby Seale , class of 1954, while attending Merrit College, he joined the Afro-American Association (AAA) and met Huey P. Newton. Together in 1966, they founded the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense.
Jean Yonemura Wing , class of 1966, was a parent and UC Berkeley graduate student on the Berkeley High School Diversity Project from 1996 to 2002. She worked alongside BHS students, staff, and parents in efforts to close the achievement gap. Jean continues to be a leader in education reform.
Billy Martin , class of 1946 was an American Major League Baseball second baseman and manager. He is best known as the manager of the New York Yankees, a position he held five different times. .
