1. History of Allen County . John O. Bredeick platted the original town east of the county line in 1845. Ferd. Bredeick platted a tract on the west side in 1845, and the two towns, as surveyed by Elias Everett, were known as East and West Bredeick. Ferdinand Bredeick erected the first house on the village site, and the first frame house was erected by Henry Menckhans; Capt. McCune built the first brick house. In 1845, E. N.
