In memory of the faithful service of the 29th Regiment New Jersey Volunteer Infantry in the Union Army during the Civil War, 1861 1865.
Mustered in at Camp Vredenburgh near Freehold, September 20, 1862. Participated in the Battles of Fredericksburg, Va. December 1314, 1862 and Chancellorsville, Va. May 23, 1863 and other engagements.
Erected by Friends of the Regiment in 1925 through a committee appointed September 10, 1924. Unveiled May 30, 1925.
