1. Jonesboro Turnpike Marker
Inscription. It crosses the highway here. Originally a branch of the Great War and Trading Path, it was later an important route from Virginia to the west. The first mail route between Richmond and Washington ran over it. Many notables used it, including Andrew Jackson, en route to his first inauguration.
