Inscription.  In this house was born, lived and died Joseph Yates Porter, M.D. 1847-1927. First health officer of the State of Florida, 1889-1917. Thirteenth president of the Florida Medical Association. Under his farsighted leadership, yellow fever and other epidemic diseases were eradicated. Perhaps no other person has exerted more influence upon the health of this state than Porter.
 
Erected 1968 by The Florida Medical Association.
