Inscription. South Dakota is home to nine tribes of the Sioux Nation, each of which is identified by one of three dialects: Dakota, Lakota and Nakota. One way to experience a part of tribal culture is by attending a "wacipi" or "powwow," to see the colorful regalia, hear the spirited drumming and singing, and sample traditional foods.
