5. Battery's Advanced Position of July 2
Looking from the marker stone toward the copse of trees. The battery's main monument stands to the right of the trees in this view. Wright's Confederate Brigade overran the battery in the early evening of July 2 and continued up the slope of Cemetery Ridge. When Federal reinforcements checked Wright's advance, the Confederates abandoned the captured guns. Those same guns would fire upon the Confederates advancing on July 3.
