Mule Barn
Carroll County Wabash & Erie Canal Inc. wishes to convey its appreciation for the contribution and vision of our friend and neighbor, Duke Energy Foundation. The completion of the Mule Barn creates a major historic site for Canal Park and our trail system. This gift adds immeasurably to our mission of education and recreation.
The new Mule Barn is typical of those barns that were placed at
approximately ten mile intervals along the historic Wabash & Erie
Canal. Fresh mules and horses were essential to the passenger
and freight boat operators who had to keep the boats moving al d
steady speed in order to meet their schedules
