Antique Farm Equipment Exhibit
Photographed By Devry Becker Jones (CC0), January 18, 2021
This exhibit displays a small collection of farm equipment that may have been used in the circa 1900's. Looking to the right is a McCormick-Deering No. 7 sickle mower, produced in 1929. To the left is a harvester that was used to rake hay or fodder for baling. The harvester on display is thought to be used in the circa 1900 time frame. Both pieces of equipment were probably horse and mule drawn until gas powered tractors came into use. Between the two large pieces of equipment are several examples of small pieces of equipment that were used by hand and some larger items that were operated using horse/mule or other mechanical power.
The exhibit was constructed by Jacob Weigel, BSA Poquoson Troop 28 and assisted by members of Troop 28.
