1. Free-Will Baptist College Marker
Inscription. December 4, 1844, Michigan Central College, under the auspices of the Free-Will Baptists, enrolled five students and started classes near this location. Earlier, the newly-chosen president, David M. Graham, a graduate of Oberlin College, had been "duly settled in a log hut near the old Indian burying ground.” In 1845, this college moved to the M-60 site and remained in operation until 1855, when it moved to Hillsdale and became Hillsdale College.
