Inscription. The "Huey” helicopter was the workhorse of the Vietnam War. Not only did it ferry troops and cargo, but it was responsible for critical combat extraction as well as life-saving medivac. This particular machine, a UH-1M model, served three tours of duty in Vietnam as a gunship. Upon close examination, one can find six repaired bullet holes, sustained during combat.

Although the intent of this Vietnam Veterans Memorial site is not to glorify the war, but to honor the men and women who courageously served their country in Vietnam, we today dedicate this weapon of destruction that it may stand guard as a reminder to present and future generations that "liberty and justice for all” is not only a right, but a privilege granted all Americans, to be forever cherished and protected.
