1. Cyrus Hall McCormick Marker
Inscription. McCormick invented the mechanical reaper in 1834, combining all steps that earlier harvesting machines performed separately. His time-saving invention allowed farmers to double their crop size and spurred innovations in farm machinery. His factory eventually became one of the greatest industrial establishments in the U.S.
