1. Marine Corps Mustang Association Marker
Inscription.
Established 10 November 1985 at Philadelphia, PA by Captain Robert E. Richter USMC (Ret)

Our purpose is to preserve and sustain the history and legacy of past, present and future Marine Mustangs

Since sometime before 1935, the term "Mustang" has been used by the United States Sea Services to denote enlisted men and women who have been selected and promoted from the enlisted ranks to become officers. In its proper sense, "Mustang" referred to the wild or half wild horse of the American Plains, especially of Mexico and California, and was a distortion of the Spanish term "Mestengo".

The title of a Marine of this status is,
and shall evermore be…
Mustang

Erected by Marine Corps Mustang Association.
