Regarding Velasco Cemetery. This is the cemetery for "new Velasco", which was established in 1891, when the town of Velasco was moved four miles upstream from its original location at the mouth of the Brazos. The cemetery for "old Velasco" was a different cemetery (aka Shannon Family Cemetery), near to the original location, although this older cemetery's location has been lost to expansion of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
