Excerpt from the nomination form about the building:
The Lock-Keeper's House is a two-story frame structure resting on a stone foundation of whitewashed, rough-faced, uncoursed ashlar. The house is set against a steep slope causing the basement level on the river side to be fully above grade. While the frame upper stories have a 16'4" x 32' single-pile plan, the foundation projects on the river side to give the basement a 24'2" x 32' double-pile plan, The platform thusly created at the first floor level on the river front is covered by a shed roof porch which extends the length of the building. This porch probably replaces at least one earlier one as the turned posts are in the style of the 1890's.(Submitted on July 10, 2023, by Devry Becker Jones of Washington, District of Columbia.)
