1. Whittier Square Marker

Inscription. Whittier Square was Tulsa's first suburban shopping center, dating back to the early 1900s when a trolley line from downtown served the area. In 1926, the original alignment of Route 66 came through the heart of Whittier Square, leading to a building boom. At its peak, over 100 businesses operated within a three-block radius of Admiral & Lewis.
