Two worthy servants of God. Leading educators, benefactors, and distinguished citizens of Person County for more than half century.

Mr. Beam born in Cleveland County, graduated at Wake Forest College. Founder of Bethel Hill Institute 1888. Person County Superintendent of Schools 1914-1923.

Mrs. Beam born in Bleinheim, South Carolina, graduated at Oxford College. First woman to be elected County Superintendent of Public Instruction in North Carolina.
