1. Built 1890s Marker
Inscription. In 1919, three McDowell brothers established a cafι here and later an ice cream parlor, which quickly became the “social center of Winchester.” Various cafes followed McDowell's until Southside Poolroom opened and, from the 1950s to 1978, provided a gathering spot for men while the ladies shopped in town.
