Inscription. Sherwood Veterans Memorial. In Tribute To All Veterans. The refurbished monument was dedicated on July 4, 2007 almost 98 years to the day it was originally dedicated. The Sherwood Community dedicated this renewed monument with an expanded mission, "In Tribute To All Veterans.” - All Veterans who have served and will serve our nation in the various wars and peacetime throughout history. Although the soldier upon this pedestal is dressed in a uniform of the Civil War Era, his mission has changed, He now represents veterans of all eras. He stands proudly upon his new granite base in the center of a brick concourse. Many dignitaries and groups participated to make that day special in the history of Sherwood. Funding for this project was through the generosity of private individuals, small businesses, 4-H clubs, veterans' organizations, fraternal organizations and public officials. John L. Fahy VFW Post 5665 provided leadership for this project. . This memorial was erected in 2007. It is in Sherwood in Defiance County Ohio
