6. Skirmish Line
Looking southwest from the position marker location. On the far right is the front of Spangler's house. In the distance, at the tree line, is Seminary Ridge. The observation tower stands just left of center. The Wisconsin company of Sharpshooters, along with other units from the regiment, maintained a skirmish line here in the afternoon of July 2. To the right of the Sharpshooters was the 1st Massachusetts skirmish line. To their left was the 5th New Jersey. This heavy skirmish line was driven in by the advance of Barksdale's and Wilcox's Confederate Brigades.
