Kieffer Log Cabin
This house is a typical early 19th century family dwelling. It is constructed of logs and has one room. All family activities took place within this space. The parents usually slept on the ground floor and the children bedded in the loft above. The fireplace was used for heat and for food preparation. The furniture (rope bed, pie safe, dry sink, and spinning wheel) is of the 1840's period.
The log house was originally located in Henry County near McClure, Ohio.
