Pangborn Memorial Campanile
National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes
This monument is dedicated to the glory of God and His Blessed Mother.
It is erected on the site of the “Old Church on the Hill,” which was built in 1805 Father John Dubois, founder of Mount Saint Mary’s College and Seminary here on Saint Mary’s Mount.
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton
worshiped, and it was here that her sister-in-law, Harriet Seton, was converted to the Catholic faith. Here the image of our Blessed Mother shines forth as a beacon of light, hope, courage and inspiration for those who pass this sacred spot. The bells in this tower ring out forever the praises of almighty God and his Blessed Mother.
Erected in humble and sincere gratitude for our many blessings.
His excellency, Thomas W. Pangborn,
