Inscription.
Pacetti Cemetery. . The Pacetti Cemetery is the final resting place for some of Ponce Inlet's first settlers. Bartolo Pacetti was a descendant of the Minorcans who had come east to Florida as part of a failed British attempt at colonization in New Smyrna Beach. Pacetti's ancestors were able to secure land grants by pledging their loyalty to Spain when Great Britain returned its Florida holdings to Spain in 1783. In 1843, Bartolo Pacetti came to Mosquito Inlet, now Ponce Inlet, and settled upon family land he owned jointly with his sister-in-law Mercedes Triay Pacetti. On November 15, 1883, Bartolo Pacetti and his sister-in-law sold 10 acres of their land for $400 dollars to the United States government for construction of a new light house station. This is where the Ponce deLeon Inlet Lighthouse station stands today. The dedication of the cemetery was held on April 30, 1972. There are seven headstones in the Pacetti family cemetery, including those of Bartolo Pacetti and his wife Martha, their daughter Saraphina Isabella and her husband Captain John Gardner.
