Inscription. At this location the 122nd Illinois held fast while General Forrest started to encircle the Union forces. With assaults also coming into the rear of the line, portions of the 122nd Illinois and men from the 50th Indiana about-faced, fixed bayonets, and charged south-southeast into the Confederates.
