The Old Boonville School Play Yard
Boonville
The Boonville School Play Yard likely was associated with the school conducted in the courthouse building but may have also been used by the school in the nearby Masonic Lodge building. Nineteenth century playgrounds were located in open spaces and might contain sand piles, swings, building blocks, a giant slide or Maypole for younger children, benches, and handball or baseball courts reduced in size for older children. - Text and photos courtesy of Mervin Peters
