It was a mark of achievement to build a home on or near Franklin boulevard in the late 1800s. Lawyers, bankers, doctors and publishers lived along this beautiful "Boulevard of Roses." Here also were leaders in Pontiac's thriving carriage-making industry as it grew into one of the world's great automotive manufacturing centers. The Franklin Boulevard neighborhood was designated Pontiac's first historic district in 1983 to recognize its handsome homes and influential residents.
