the property of Thomas
Terry II, circa 1703, and
ownership continued in
the Terry family until
1850 when it was acquired
by E. Mulford. Last of
seven houses built in
the mid-17th century.

1. The Validity of Peaken's Tavern
The true story of this building is still being researched to this day. Local legends and narratives claim that John Peaken built this structure as a tavern, as noted in the marker. However, it is not known whether or not this structure was actually used as a tavern.
