Inscription.  Armin Henry Krueger 1914-1996, served as caretaker of Illinois Caverns for 45 years his constant presence and willingness to share his affection for underground Monroe County enhanced the experience for countless visitors to the cave. His humble manner and simple life magnified by his open heart and warm support of cave explores brought attention to the cave's natural wonder and helped ensure its eventual protection as a state natural area.
