John Lee Pickens’ Medical Office. . This site was once the location of the office of Dr. John Lee Pickens. Dr. Pickens, who came to Pensacola from Alabama, was considered an asset to the city and to the Eastside neighborhood-- a diversified neighborhood in terms of residents and businesses. Dr. Pickens served the community as a pharmacist, physician and coroner. He was married to Mrs. E.V. Pickens, Prinicipal [sic] of the Spencer Bibbs Elementary School. The J. Lee Pickens Elementary School, located at 2501 North Hayne Street from 1950-1969, was named in his honor because of his love for the people and his service to the community. .
