Malinda Brown Coker, wife of Joseph Coker, was born in 1811. She died May 24, 1853 and is buried in City Cemetery, Jacksonville, Texas.

Malinda died enroute to this land as she, her husband Joseph, and family were traveling from Alabama to occupy this land granted by the Republic of Texas to Joseph's bachelor brother, John Coker.
