1. Blennerhassetts’ Maze Marker
Perhaps the most startling aspects of the flower garden to modern imaginations was its English-style maze, also called a labyrinth. It consisted of a section of clipped high hedges, possibly boxwood, filled with twisting, interconnecting graveled paths that mostly led to dead ends. What made Blennerhassetts’ maze unforgettable was the eccentric fact that it was shaped in the outline of the original 13 states.Erected by Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park.

Location. 39° 16.32′ N, 81° 36.129′ W. Marker is on Blennerhassett Island, West Virginia, in Wood County. Marker can be reached by sternwheeler riverboat passenger ferry ($12 round trip) from Point Park on 2nd Street in Parkersburg between May 1st and early October.
