Inscription. Site of West Virginia University's first building erected solely for the work of medical education. This 14' by 20' structure was built at a cost of $350 and used for dissection of cadavers. It became known locally as "The Hick House” due to a misunderstanding of the Latin word "Hic” from the burial phrase "Hic Jacet” (here lies).
