Inscription. In Memory of Capt. Elijah Parsons Petty C.S.A. age 34. Enlisted May 13, 1862 at Bastrop, Texas, for the war. Mustered in same day as Capt.. Co. F., 17th Regt. Texas Volunteer Infantry. Fought in Battle of Mansfield, killed at Pleasant Hill, La. April 9, 1864.
