1. Corner of Sixth and Main Street Marker
Inscription. This three-story, brick structure was built in 1901 for Drs. Andrew and Hugh Barbee, father and son. The first floor housed the post office, the second the doctors' offices and the third, the masonic hall. Dr. Andrew came to Pt. Pleasant in 1868 to practice medicine. He was a colonel in the Confederate army and the organizer of the State Board of Health. Both doctors served as Secretary of the State Board of Health and County Coroner.
