1. Louis Dembitz Brandeis Marker
Inscription. Born in Louisville and educated at Male High School. Graduated first in Harvard Law School, class of 1877. Practiced law in Boston where he championed the rights of individuals and was known for his social activism. First Jew appointed to U.S. Supreme Court, serving from 1916 to 1939. Donated his legal library and papers to University of Louisville law school.
 
Erected 1987 by Jefferson County, Kentucky; Jefferson Discovery '87; in honor of the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution.
