1. Thomas "Tom" Nelson Burford Marker
Inscription. An orchardist and champion of heritage apples, Tom traced his roots to seven generations of apple growers in Amherst and Nelson counties. He was born in Amherst County where he was a lifelong resident and partner in Burford Brothers. Tom shared his vast knowledge and enthusiasm for apples. A wonderful storyteller and charming southern gentlemen, Tom was often referred to as "Professor Apple".
