This sign is part of the Letchworth State Park CCC Legacy Pathway honoring the Civilian Conservation Corps (1933-1942), a federal works project designed to relieve unemployment and conserve natural resources during the Great Depression.

An advanced attachment of enrollees arrived in May 1934 for the Park's third CCC camp: St. Helena Camp 76, SP (State Park) 76. For several months they lived in tents as their wooden barracks were being built. Over five hundred people, including CCC officials, local dignitaries and park officials attended the dedication of the finished camp held October 4, 1934. The camp operated for almost 24 months, closing in the spring of 1936. There were proposals for public use of the abandoned camp and the Wyoming County Fair was held there in the summer of 1936. However, since the camps were meant to be temporary, enrollees from the surviving camps razed the buildings in January 1937.
