Automotive Pioneers
Honoring Flint's Industrial Heritage
Flint celebrates its unique automotive history in the annual "Back to the Bricks” vintage car show and rolling cruise along downtown's brick pavement. The "Back to the Bricks” organizing body spearheaded the Automotive Pioneer project, commissioning local artist Joe Rundell to create statues of Flint's memorable figures. The figures of William “Billy” Durant, David Buick and Louis Chevrolet are honored here in downtown Flint. Other Auto Pioneer statues can be found at Bishop International Airport and other locations around Genesee County.
