To the glory of God and in memory of Goronwy Owen (1723-1769) clergyman, poet, patriot, hymnologist, teacher, letter-writer, classical scholar, cymmrodor and freemason.

"I loved my land, my dearly beloved fair land."

This monument was erected by the Welsh people of North America and the Poetry Society of Virginia March second, 1958. The traditional grave site of Goronwy Owen is six miles northeast of Lawrenceville on old Trotter Plantation.
