Donna Hooks Fletcher. . The City of Donna was named after, the beautiful and fiercely independent Donna Hooks Fletcher (1879 - 1969). Donna was the daughter of Thomas J. Hooks, one of the founders of the original townsite. Ahead of her time, she was a pioneer and entrepreneur who tamed a piece of the wilderness and crafted many successful businesses. She was also a woman of great compassion and charity, who stretched forth a helping hand to others in her community. Like the Native Americans whose lands these were for millennia before us, she felt a great unity with the sacred and sought strength from God to help others to find goodness within themselves and the world. . This historical marker was erected in 2014. It is in Donna in Hidalgo County Texas
