1. Fort Hoskins Marker
Inscription. Near this spot, in 1838, Fort Hoskins was briefly established by the U.S. Army for use during the Cherokee Indian removal. Troops gathered over 100 Cherokees here who were then taken to Ross's Landing to begin their journey to what is now Oklahoma. This journey became known as the Trail of Tears.
