1. W.R. Shadow Home Marker
Inscription. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Original log and batten dogtrot structure built circa 1838. First homesteaded by Robert and Winnie Byas. Acquired by Calvin and Hepsey Leary in 1850. Greek Revival ell wing added and plantation was named "Sunnyside". Leary gained the title of "Model Farmer of North Louisiana". Acres in cultivation grew from 100 in 1850 to 2000 acres by 1880. Purchased by Shadow Family in 1906 and operated as a landscape nursery named "Dixie Nursery" until 1981.
