The English elm's leaves are simple and oval-shaped 1/2 to 4 inches in length with serrated teeth and a deep green color. English elms are known for their impressive size and large horizontal limbs. This elm is the second largest tree in Fort Greene Park. Many of the English elms planted by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in the 1800s are still in the park today.
