Regarding Lakeview Cemetery GAR Civil War Memorial. The sculpture cost just under $1,200 and commemorates soldiers who fought and died for the Union during the Civil War. Funds were raised through public subscription by the local Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) post and the Women's Relief Corps (W.R.C.). In 1894, engineer P. B. Wines was contracted to install the sculpture, which was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 30, 1895.
