Also see . . . Midpoint Cafe on Wikipedia. The cafe was built in 1928 and had expanded over the years. The place had gone under several names and owners. Fran Houser, who owned the cafe from 1990 to 2012, was the inspiration of the character, Flo, on the Disney/Pixar film Cars. The place has been known as the Midpoint Cafe since 1995. There has been some debate on how accurate the actual Route 66 midpoint is, because of several alignment changes over the life of the Mother Road - but most historians settle on Adrian, Texas.
