1. Reflecting Pool Marker
Inscription. In 1929 Henry Francis du Pont planned a major enlargement of his house and commisioned his lifelong friend, landscape architect Marian Coffin, to design his garden. Like many designers of the "country house" era, Coffin was inspired by the symmetry, proportions and architectural features of Italian Renaissance gardens.
