The home is a prime example of California Arts & Crafts style, also known as the American Craftsman style, bungalow which was popular in 1910 – 1925. With the intention of steering away from Victorian style architecture, the bungalow focused on raw materials, simplicity in design, and visibility of handicraft. The Craftsman bungalow started a movement for those in the American middle class to own more ‘noble’ homes. Unique to the Craftsman style is locally handcrafted wood, glass, and stone.
