The home is a prime example of California Arts & Crafts style, also known as the American Craftsman style, bungalow which was popular in 1910 1925. With the intention of steering away from Victorian style architecture, the bungalow focused on raw materials, simplicity in design, and visibility of handicraft. The Craftsman bungalow started a movement for those in the American middle class to own more noble homes. Unique to the Craftsman style is locally handcrafted wood, glass, and stone.
